4. Although timingwise, we think that late May would be a better

choice for the IAEA experts, we still wish to reserve 18th, 19th June as another option. You may be aware that the Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company (GNPJVC) organises press reception every half yearly 1.e. in June and December. If the seminar is to be held in mid-June, the optional tour to Daya Bay (scheduled on the third day in our proposed programme) can be tied in with their press reception and it will not necessitate special arrangement with GNPJVC for a separate tour.

We would therefore appreciate it if the IAEA could accommodate both options and keep them open until the timing of fuel delivery is confirmed.

To coincide with the seminar, an exhibition dedicated to nuclear power information will be organised by the HKNIC. A one-day optional tour of Daya Bay may also be arranged, subject to the agreement of the GNPJVC.

Our intention is to co-operate with the Chinese government for the preparation and the realisation of this seminar. The China National Nuclear Corporation and National Nuclear Safety Administration will be invited to contribute on two topics, mainly oriented toward the management of radioactive waste, and the surveillance and the monitoring of Nuclear Installations in China.

Please find attached a preliminary proposal for the seminar. This draft proposal includes the main topics to be presented and a proposition for the concerned organisation responsible for preparing/presenting the various papers.

We would be most grateful if the IAEA would advise us early of the followings :

1) Confirmed Agenda for the seminar

2) List of proposed speakers, how and when will they be

confirmed?

3)

Should the IAEA and HKNIC jointly issue the invitations to the EdF, CNNC and NNSA for their representatives to participate in the proposed seminar?

We understand that the IAEA will pay for the speakers' perdiems and travel, the IAEA materials and advance costs. IAEA will also cover travel and hotel expenses for outside participants only if they are from Member States.

The HKNIC will cover all local costs such as those for conference facilities, photocopying, hospitality, transportation to the facilities and so forth.
