IAEA Presentation

With reference to the letter from Mrs Rita Scott of the IAEA on the captioned subject dated 21st January 1992, I would like to provide the following information for further liaison by the UK Mission with the Agency.

We share the view of the IAEA that May 21 and 22 would be a better timing, taking into consideration the availability of speakers and the possible presentation of findings by the Agency's OSART team after their visit to Daya Bay. We therefore would like to confirm that the seminar is scheduled for May 21 and 22 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, followed by an optional tour to the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station on May 23 (subject to GNPJVC's agreement).

We fully appreciate the position of the IAEA in staging such kind of media seminar and would keep in view its educational nature in organising the event. As advised, we will work through the UK Mission to the IAEA as much as possible, with the support of the Economic Services Branch.

I am also enclosing a revised agenda for the seminar, incorporating comments from the IAEA. As requested, please find a suggested list of speakers (please see Attachment be invited from the Chinese authorities.

) to

Regarding hospitality arrangements, we would suggest that the reception hosted by the IAEA be held at the seminar venue.

Our

company will be hosting the dinner party on May 22 at a restaurant near the seminar venue. We will also provide lunches and coffee breaks for seminar participants.
