In order to assess the potential service, the Institute has conducted a sample survey of 216 of its member companies. Of the 63 companies that have responded so far, 75% would definitely or probably use IPM-Net. none of those who have not responded are interested

As regards usage by job-seekers, the Institute has conducted a number of surveys on former Hong Kong residents who now live in Canada. The surveys indicate that about 20% of those who have lived in Canada for ten years or less are likely or definitely intending to return to Hong Kong for employment. Another 30% are undecided.

It is estimated about 124,000 persons from Hong Kong have taken up residence in Canada over the past ten years. Assuming IPM-Net can capture up to 8% of the Toronto market (i.e. one-quarter of the definite or probable returnees and 10% of the undecided) and 4% of the remaining Canadian market, IPM is confident that on full
