As regards usage by job-seekers, the Institute has conducted a number of surveys on former Hong Kong residents who now live in Canada. The surveys indicate that about 20% of those who have lived in Canada for ten years or less are likely or definitely intending to return to Hong Kong for employment. Another 30% are undecided.

It is estimated about 124,000 persons from Hong Kong have taken up residence in Canada over the past ten years.
