Our objective is that a positive export control relationship with Hong Kong continue indefinitely. We note that it is the UK Government's intention to consult the government of the People's Republic of China at an appropriate time with regard to maintaining Hong Kong's relevant export controls in the future. The enhanced licensing benefits described in this letter are extended at this time without a specified period of duration. The benefits are subject to modification or withdrawal, however, if warranted by a change
in circumstances.
