Annual Report on Hong Kong 1992 to Parliament

We

have been giving thought to the preparation of this year's Annual Report on Hong Kong to Parliament and would like to suggest a timetable for preparation of the Report.

Last year's Annual Report to Parliament was published in the form of a White Paper on 9 March 1992. I presume you

will be aiming to publish the 1992 Report around the same time next year. I don't think it would be possible to publish it any earlier as some of the key economic indicators (e.g. GDP figures) are unlikely to be available until February, and we would prefer to publish these figures only after the Financial Secretary has made the budget speech, tentatively scheduled for 3 March 1993.

With the above in mind, I propose the following

timetable:

early mid Oct 92

CAB to consult within HKG on the outline of the Report, and to agree the outline with FCO
