You asked about the latest position regarding the amendments to the Letters Patent (LPs) and Royal Instructions

(RIS).

2. The amendments were approved at the Privy Council meeting on 17 December. I attach a copy of the final version. The Director of Administration will be meeting the LegCo Deputy President on 22 December and will use this occasion to show him these amendments.

3. Hong Kong are aiming to arrange for the election of the LegCo President during a special LegCo sitting on 5 February. They intend to publish the amendments to the LPS and RIs in the Gazette on the same day. The Privy Council office have confirmed that the approved printed text of the amendments will be available in time to meet Hong Kong's printing. deadline for this issue of the Gazette.
