Note:

On 7th October Chris Patten will make a key-note address to the Hong Kong Legislative Council, where he will set out his blue-print for the last five years before the transfer of sovereignty in 1997.

Paddy Ashdown was invited by the influential Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, in the week before Chris Patten's speech, to give his views on the present situation in Hong Kong and suggest what needs to be done in the next five years.

He will also be meeting Chris Patten on Thursday morning.
