The Election Committee

Depending on the outcome of the discussions with China on directly elected seats, we may need an Election Committee in 1995 to elect up to 10 LegCo Members. We believe that the Commission should be genuinely representative of the community, i.e. its members should themselves have been directly elected. Accordingly, it is proposed that :

(a) The members of the Committee should be drawn from the

directly elected members of the District Boards, and

(b)

The members should be able to vote for any qualified candidate and not just for a candidate from their own ranks.
