Dear Mike,

HMOCS POLICE OFFICERS: POSTS IN OTHER DEPENDENT TERRITORIES

24

Thank you for your letter of 5 November

I have consulted the Overseas Police Adviser who thinks that it will be possible to adopt a preliminary assessment system for Police Officers who apply for posts in other dependent territories.

Therefore, as in the case of HMOCS Administrative Officers, the Hong Kong Government should forward annual confidential reports relating to the candidate for the last 3 years together with a detailed assessment and recommendations so that a "paper sifting" of candidates can be carried out. Applicants would only be required to travel to the UK for a final selection board interview.

I hope that this system will be acceptable to prospective candidates.
