POSTS IN OTHER DEPENDENT TERRITORIES: ARRANGEMENTS

1.

SECURITY VETTING

We have been discussing recently how HMG will treat applications from members of HM Overseas Civil Service (HMOCS) in Hong Kong for posts which will fall vacant in other DTs. I should be grateful if you could let me know if all of the posts for which Hong Kong HMOCS members might apply require candidates to be positively vetted, to either PV (TS) or PV (S). We understand from Mr Holland, WIAD that this is probably the case.

I understand that, if those responsible for vetting are unable to carry out a check on a person, they stamp the relevant form "no check possible". But this does not automatically mean a negative decision, as each case is considered on its merits. It would be helpful to know if any of the posts in other DTs for which Hong Kong HMOCS members might apply have been or are filled by people on whom it has not been possible to carry out full checks.
