up children.

He was educated in England, and studied law at Leeds University and at Gibson and Weldon Law School in London. He graduated Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Leeds University in July 1956. He was admitted as a

He practised as a barrister of Gray's Inn in February 1958. barrister in Bradford from March 1958 to January 1988, and held the position of Recorder of the Crown Court from October 1976 to January 1988.

Mr. Meredith is an excellent lawyer, with an extensive and thorough knowledge of law and procedure, who has brought a wealth of legal and judicial experience to Hong Kong. He is a hardworking magistrate with a most pleasant manner, both in and outside the court. His appeal work is of an excellent standard. He is a man of considerable ability.
