Transfer to the permanent establishment
Messrs N Stewart-Pearson and J M Meredith, Magistrates
We have no objection to the transfer of Messrs Stewart-Pearson and Meredith to the permanent establishment, subject to their passing a medical examination and to the approval of the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. Be fore forwarding the cases to the Secretary of State, I should be grateful if you would

arrange for them to be medically examined and forward to me a copy each of the GF 76 regarding their medical fitness once they are available;
ascertain from them as to their choice on the effective dates of transfer. In this connection, their transfer, if approved, should take effect from
(i)
(ii)
the date of their passing a medical examination to be arranged after the date of this memo; or
a current or future date, provided it is not earlier than the date at
at (b)(i)
(b)(i) or later than the date of expiry of their current agreements, subject to continued satisfactory performance meanwhile and their being found medically fit at the effective date of transfer;
ask them to indicate whether they wish to buy back any previous service in order to enhance the pensions benefits due to them upon their retirement; and

ask them whether they wish to apply for enrolment
a member of Her Majesty's
Majesty's Overseas Civil Service and, if so, request them to complete the attached- application forms in duplicate and return them to me for onward transmission to the Secretary of State.
