in the advice of the Judicial Service Commission, we have no objection to ir „ritton's transfer to the permanent establishment, subject to his sessing a monical examination and to the approval of the ecretary of tate for Foreim and Commonwealth affairs. Before forwarding the case to the Secretary of state, I should be grateful if you would

-

(a) arrange for Mr Britton to be medically

examined and forward to me a copy of the uk 76 regardin; his medical fitness once it is available;

(b) ascertain from Ar Britton as to his choice

on the effective date of transfer. In this connection, his transfer, if approved, should take effect from

(i) the date of his assing a

medical examination to be arranged after the date of this memo; or

(ii) a current or future date,

provided it is not earlier than the date at (b)(i) or later than the date of expiry of his current agreement, subject to continued satis- factory performance meanwhile and his being found medically fit at the effective date of transfer;

(c) ask Hr Britton to indicate whether he is prepared

to buy back any previous service in order to enhance the pensions benefits due to him upon his retirement; and

(d) ask ir Britton whether he wishes to apply for

enrolment as a member of Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service and, if he so wishes, request him to complete the attached application form in duplicate and return them to me for onward transmission to the Secretary of State.
