2.

We look forward to

Paragraph 2(c) of Michael Stone's letter of 22 May unfortunately turned out rather garbled. What we had wanted to ask you was whether you could led us any circulars or regulations which referred to the fact that the Secretary of State would be notified, so far as Judges and other Judicial

their Officers were concerned, of appointments:

(i) on permanent and pensionable terms;

(ii) on agreement terms;

(iii) on transfer from (ii) to (i).

If there were any such circulars or regulations, did they include reference to the right of Judges or other Judicial Officers to apply for membership of HMSO/HMOJ?

3. I should be grateful if you could look into whether there is any material on this specific point which you could also send by bag.

Yours sincerely,
