2. Save as is provided in paragraphs 3 and 4 of this Appendix com- pensation for loss of careen shall be calculated by multiplying the amount of an officer's annual pensionable emoluments at the date on which he completes his leave prior to retirement by a factor appropriate to his age and service at that date.
3. In the case that an officer shall apply to retire under the provisions of paragraph 2 of this Scheme and shall be required to relinquish, duties prior to retirement on a date subsequent to that intimated by him in his application made pursuant to sub-paragraph (1) of that paragraph, then compensation for loss of career in respect of such officer shall be calculated as provided in paragraph, 2. of this Appendix except that, notwithstanding the nmvisions of the said naragraph. it' shall be calculated at the date most advantageous to him between the date on which his leave prior to retirement would have expired had he relinquished duties in accordance with his application, and the date on which his leave prior to retirement was completed.
4. The compensation for loss of career of an officer promoted, where the decision to promote was taken after the nineteenth day of February, 1959, shall be calculated as provided in paragraph 2 of this Appendix except that, notwithstanding the provisions of the said paragraph, the annual pensionable emoluments of such officer for the purposes of the calculation of his compensation for loss of carcer shall be the annual gensionable emoluments such officer would have received on the date he shall complete his leave prior to retirement. had he not been promoted or ope-third of the aggregate pensionable emoluments of the officer in respect of his service during the three years immediately preceding such date, whichever is the greater:
Provided that in the case that such an officer shall apply to retire under the provisions of paragraph 2 of this Scheme and shall be required to relinquish duties prior to retirement on a date subsequent to that intimated by him in his application made pursuant to sub-paragraph (1) of that paragraph, then the annual pensionable emoluments of such officer for the purposes of the calculation of his compensation for loss of career shall be as provided in this paragraph or one-third of the aggregate pensionable emoluments of such officer in respect of his service during the three years immediately preceding the date on which his leave prior: to retirement would have expired had he relinquished his duties in accord- ance with his application, if the same shall be greater.

5.-(1) The factor in the case of an officer to whom on the operative date the provisions of section 8 of the Pensions Law would otherwise apply, shall be the factor ascertained from Table "B" of this Appendix appropriate to his age and length of service; and the factor for service in excess of eight years shall be the same as the appropriate factor specified for eight years.
(2) Where the age or length of service of an officer is more than an exact number of years compensation for loss of career shall be calculated having regard to the age of the officer in years and completed months and completed months of service and there shall be applied a factor pro- portionately increased or decreased accordingly.
6. The factor in the case of a person who is a judge of the Supreme Court on the operative date and in the case of an officer to whom on the operative date the provisions of the Cyprus Pensions Orders in Council, 1929 and 1931, would otherwise apply consequent on his having made an election under and in accordance with the said Orders, shall be the factor ascertained from Table C" and Table 'D" of this Appendix respectively in the manner specified in paragraph 5 of this Appendix.
