HONG KONG HMOCS: MEETING ON OPTIONS

1. Thank you for your telephone call. I enclose a revised note of the meeting on 23 July (amendments at paras 3 (c) and 3 (i)).

We have not yet revised the draft list of sterling safeguards options; but I have noted your point that we should drop some of the commentary on the different trigger points, including the suggestion that one figure is a Treasury preferred option and another a Treasury "compromise" proposal. Apologies for trying to telescope the negotiation !
