Thank you for your letter of 8 July. Kevin Woodfield has written about the follow up action to our Ministers' recent meeting. We shall be grateful to be kept in touch with your work on the options to be covered in a paper for Ministers and will be glad to discuss when you wish.
201 mentioned the advice we had received from Barings. Michael Stone attended the meeting here on 28 February, and received a copy of Barings' letter of 13 April proposing a list of possible financial market discussants. I enclose further copies of our note of the meeting and of Barings' letters. I have rather assumed that it was for the HKG to pursue these possibilities, in the light of Mr Margolis's report, and in response to from their employees.
