We may also need to give some though to how an HMOCS officer might be accommodated in such a post in terms of preservation of pension rights and conditions of service. The old arrangement would have been a formal transfer to the territory concerned and this may still be possible if arrangements exist for pensionable HMOCS service. However, the normal arrangement recently has been some form
secondment, or no pay leave secondment, from the HKG, unless the HMOCS officer retired and was therefore appointed on contract or agreement terms. However as we approach 1997 we shall face limitations on any secondment arrangements.
I should be
grateful to know where we stand on this subject and what arrangements you are thinking of for filling those posts which might become vacant in late 1992 and the first half of 1993.
