This Circular introduces amendments to paragraphs 7 and 9 of Civil Service Branch Circular No. 12/87 to cover the option arrangements for agreement officers appointed or offered appointment on or before 28 March 1985 (see Civil Service Branch Circular No. 6/85 and CSR 121) who transfer to pensionable terms after the introduction of the New Pension Scheme on 1 July 1987. Upon transfer to the pensionable establishment, these officers will be on the old pension scheme, But they may apply to join the new pension scheme within the option period specified in paragraph 9 of the Circular, or 6 months from the date they transfer from agreement to pensionable terms,
whichever is the later.

Paragraph 7 of CSB Circular No. 12/87 is accordingly
replaced by the following

The following officers may apply to join
the New Pension Scheme
(a) officers who are serving as at 1 July
1987 on terms which attract pension
benefits; and
