CHANGES TO THE WIDOWS' AND CHILDREN'S SCHEME (WCPS)
AND THE WIDOWS AND ORPHANS PENSION SCHEME (WOPS)
(A) The Widows' and Children's Pensions Scheme (WCPS)
The changes made to the Widows' and Children's Pensions Scheme are
(a) Computation of widows' and children's
pensions will take into account an incomplete month of contributory service.
(b) Subject to the other eligiblity
criteria under the WCPS, a widow will be eligible for a widow's pension irrespective of whether she was married to a contributor within 12 months of his death.
(c) Children's pension will continue to be paid even if the surviving widow ceases to be paid her pension.
(d) The maximum period of contributory service will be limited to 400
months, i.e. the period necessary to earn maximum widows' and children's pension;
(e) The maximum penalty for non-compliance
with the requirement to report
changes in family particulars is raised from $200 to $400.
(B) The Widows and Orphans Pension Scheme (WOPS)
The following changes are made to the Widows
and Orphans Pension Scheme -
(a) The maximum penalty for non-compliance
with the requirement to report changes in family particulars is raised from $100 to $400.
(b) Subject to the other eligibility
criteria under the WOPS, a widow will be eligible for a widow's pension irrespective of whether she was married to a contributor within 12 months of his death.
