BLOCK DIPLOMATIC FLIGHT CLEARANCE 1993

I am pleased to inform you that my Authorities have granted your military and civil aircraft the following Block Diplomatic Flight Clearance for 1993:

a.

are

All military aircraft (fixed-wing or rotary) granted Diplomatic Clearance to fly into all UK military or civil airfields and into airfields in British Dependant Territories overseas, with the exception of Diego Garcia. Clearance into Ascension Island, where the airfield is ceded by treaty to the US, is subject to separate clearance from the US authorities which must be applied for direct to the State Department in Washington.

All civil aircraft (fixed-wing or rotary) are granted Diplomatic Clearance to fly into any UK military airfield.

b.

c.

All flights are subject to operational clearance being obtained from the appropriate airfield authority. Access to most military airfields is subject to the granting of Prior Permission which is obtained by sending a Flight Notification Message in accordance with published instructions. For access to busy airfields such as Hong Kong, Brize Norton and Lyneham as much notice as possible should be given.

d. All flights must comply with current ICAO, British Air Traffic and Operational Requirements currently in force and aircraft are to be unarmed; ie, not carrying weapons, munitions, photographic or electronic equipment other than items which normally form part of the installed equipment of the aircraft and remain inactive for routine transit

purposes.

e.

Notwithstanding the above, the Foreign Liaison Section must be advised of any flights carrying Dangerous Air Cargo

(DAC) or Very Important People (VIP).

f. The addition of clearance for military aircraft to operate into certain British DTs is initially for one year only. Extension of the facility for a further period will be considered on receipt of a request from the French

authorities.

The Foreign Liaison Section carries out an annual review of Block Diplomatic Flight Clearance. You will be informed of any changes if they occur.
