I refer to previous exchanges of correspondence resting with your letter to me of 21 November.

2. Our Embassy in Washington have made enquiries about recovery of recoupment charges in respect of Hong Kong's purchases. I enclose a copy of a letter from the British Defence Staff Washington dated 23 October. Unfortunately this rules out recovery of these charges.
