DEFENCE LANDS
GENERAL
Two meetings of the Expert Group on Defence Lands since the last meeting of the Steering Committee.
Chinese have started to show some anxiety that time is beginning to run out: not only for building their new naval base on the south side of Stonecutters but also for discussion of practical details about the operation of the Military Estate.
The next milestone is JLG 24 later this month.
UPDATE ON THE RN MOVE TO SCI
Dates. Going well generally. After 137 years on the present site the move of the RN from HMS Tamar in Central HK to HMS Tamar on SCI is due to start on 22 Mar 93. It is possible that the completion date could be delayed by up to 3 months because of some additional work required for inclusion of the new Government Dockyard in the overall project.
Manning Implications.
The RN do not require any enhancements to their Scheme of Complement upon reprovisioning beyond any recommend by the recent Naval Manpower Audit Team.
Nomenclature. The site of HMS Tamar from 17 Mar 93 will be known as Prince of Wales Barracks (POWB).
