JAPANESE BILL ON JAPANESE PARTICIPATION IN UN PEACE KEEPING OPERATIONS

1.

In your fax of 1 July to Michael Stone on the Japanese Bill, you asked for a line on the UK's position. This is as follows:

"HMG welcomes the passing of the Peace Keeping Operations Bill as it portrays a Japanese willingness to be involved in international affairs and HMG looks forward to continued cooperation with Japan in the United Nations."

2.

I hope this is of help to you.

Yours sincerely
