W.e.f. 1 January 1992, all European Community citizens (of which I am one) have had right of abode Spain, including the right to work, or retire to reside, or establish a business, without a visa. Once settled ւո Spain, a person intending to take up permanent residence would register with the authorities for a Community Residence Card.
