to give evidence with the principle that a witness cannot be asked to state facts or produce documents the disclosure or
production of which may be prejudicial to the public
interest. The Governor is entitled to his opinion as to
whether or not the provision of documents, or evidence, would be prejudicial. However, the trial judge has the ultimate right to decide on reading the documents or
statement of evidence himself whether or not it would be
prejudicial. The trial judge's decision is, of course, final subject to any appeal that may be available.
INSTITUTIONS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
There are several institutions in the United Kingdom
connected with or interested in the Dependent Territories, and it is probably that a Governor-designate would be
invited to visit such institutions. Examples of such
Institutions are: The Commonwealth Institute, the Royal
Commonwealth Society, the Falkland Islands Committee, and
the Chambers of Commerce particularly interested in the Dependent Territory to which the Governor has been
appointed.
