and the Governor will proceed forthwith with the presentation as in e. above and perhaps a few remarks in general terms about his career and activities. It is not permissible to divulge to recipients any citations relating

to their awards.

COURT MOURNING

Circular Despatch No 1120 of 22 October 1956 gives detailed advice on the observance of Court Mourning, also in DSP Volume 7 Section F. Information will be received from the

Secretary of State when Court Mourning has been ordered, and the period of mourning will be notified. A Governor may apply, in special circumstances, through the Secretary of State, for the curtailment of the period of Court Mourning

in a Dependent Territory.

During the period of Court Mourning a Governor and the members of his staff when in uniform will wear a mourning

band on the left arm. When in plain clothes, ordinary dress may be worn with a black tie, but without a mourning band. White waistcoats may be worn with evening dress. Ladies of the Governor's household should wear black or white dresses.
