If another distinguished foreigner is present the Governor, after proposing The Queen's health, will propose the health of the head of the state to which the distinguished

foreigner belongs. If there are distinguished visitors of more than one foreign country present the health of the head of the state to which each belongs should be proposed,

either in turn beginning with head of the state to which the most senior of the guests belongs, or in an omnibus form such as "The Sovereigns and Heads of State of the countries

and states represented here".

If a band is available it will play the opening bars of the

appropriate National Anthem when the health of

health of the head of a

foreign state is proposed.

Toasts may be drunk in water.

It is usual, unless some special arrangements to the

contrary have been made, for the Governor to retain the head

of the table at meals at the house at which he stays on

tour.

In most Dependent Territories there is an established order of precedence approved by the Sovereign, and in the absence. of this the general table of precedence given in Colonial Regulation 114 can be consulted. But recent constitutional changes have tended to complicate precedence problems in many Territories and local solutions have often had to be worked out. Enquiries regarding precedence should be
