GOVERNOR-DESIGNATE OF HONG KONG: OFFICE ACCOMMODATION

37

1.

I discussed with your Planners last week our need for an adequate room together with an outer office for use by the Governor-Designate of Hong Kong. We had a word about

this on the telephone this morning.

2.

The accommodation will need to be of a standard

suitable for a very senior officer. I cannot say when we will need it, because I do not yet know when the appointment will be made. But we should work on the assumption that it will be needed as from next Monday 27 April, for a period of about two months. It would obviously be helpful if it could be geographically near Hong Kong Department and our Under Secretaries, but I realise the constraints you are operating under. Once you have identified a set of rooms, it would be particularly helpful to know as soon as possible what word processor is installed in the PA's room, since this may affect the choice of PA for the Governor- Designate.
