step enough for me." I think to look beyond five years would have
taxed Cardinal Newman, who wrote those lines, and it would
certainly tax your humble servant.
QUESTION:
How will you and your family feel about leaving Bath?
MR PATTEN:
-
It is obviously one of the factors that we have had to consider.
My wife is a practising barrister, she practises principally in family law. I have three children, one of whom is at present in
Latin America God willing between school and university, one
of whom is completing her A levels, and one of whom is in her
second year at secondary school. My wife will be giving up her career for the time being as a barrister, my eldest daughter will obviously be going on to university so she does not present an educational problem at the moment, we have not quite decided how best to complete my second daughter's A level course, but my youngest daughter, Alice, who is 12 will be accompanying us to
Hong Kong, we
we are looking forward to finding a school for her in Hong Kong where she can continue her education, and I should worn all future visitors to the Governor's residence in Hong Kong, that means since Alice will be with us that there will be a large quantity of animal life there as well.
