Many thanks for forwarding my letter to you to the Prime

Minister. I am aware that the Malaysian PM has changed his approach

on the matter and I had anticipated that, as a matter of courtesy, he

would inform the PM, given the previous contacts between the

two offices over the issue.

I hesitate to say this, but has it crossed your mind that

a diplomatic finess may have been worked here?.

Consider; in 1983 the Malaysians want the matter curbed

and their officials kept out of it;

By 1985 they want three of the bank directors prosecuted, but

behind the defense of the the Nuurdin report.

Now, in 1991 Matahir says that Nuurdin is 'not to be believed'

and is 'unreliable', which destroys any base for the case that may have remained after the loss, earlier this year, of so manyy

of the critical files?

I leave that with you and hope that something has been

done about the prima facie evidence, even at this late stage.
