Many thanks for your prompt reply to my last letter.

As I understand it you have rejected the suggestion that
a previous Attorney General and Director of Public Prosecutions
of Hong Kong were agreeable to the offering of substantial sums
of money to 'recover' fugitives who had taken refuge in Taiwan.
Could you please confirm this to be your position. I apologise
if you feel I am merely asking you to repeat comments from your
previous letter. I do not wish there to be any understanding
over such a matter. (You should make quite sure that you are
being correctly informed by HK)
I would further ask whether a previous member of the Attorney
Generals chambers, Warwick Reid, was involved in any attempt to
procure the "deportation" of fugatives from justice in Hong
Kong, by means of payments to Taiwanese officials.
For your own files you might like to enquire how Reid
was recovered from Manila. It was an instructive and documented
event.
