I should mention that we have written to MacFarlanes asking for an assurance from the Hong Kong Government which will meet the requirements of section 6(4) of the Extradition Act 1989 in order to deal with the speciality point and hope to be able to issue a certificate under Section 6(7) of the Act before any hearing on the habeas corpus application which we think will be heard on 15 or 17 March. It would be helpful therefore if we could have your views on the China point by then.
