Full details of the HOLIDAY LINE service are attached. These give full instructions regarding booking.
This new facility will provide a speedier service to officers wishing to book holidays, as well as freeing staff in Travel Centre to service official non-air travel.
Travel Centre will still provide facilities for private
(non-package) travel by air, sea and rail as well as independent travel insurance. As previously no discount is available for these (except for Sealink Stena Line car ferries).
The above change commences 1 May, from which date no further new holiday bookings will be handled by Travel Centre. Bookings made before 1 May will of course not be affected.
HOLIDAY LINE is open until 9 pm Mondays to Fridays and until 5 pm on Saturdays.
SELF-DRIVE CAR RENTAL (UK)
Negotiations have recently been completed with WOODS CAR RENTAL
to provide a discount of 15% to FCO personnel. Woods maintain a high standard of service at reasonable cost, using low-mileage cars. All hires are on an unlimited mileage basis and include VAT. However, it should be noted that the recent increase in UK VAT to 17% means that Woods have to increase their published rates by 2.14%.
Woods have depots at Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh and East Grinstead.
Most overseas Posts are already on Woods distribution, but additional copies of their brochure may be obtained from Travel Centre. You may obtain price details and reserve with Woods direct by telephoning 0737-240291 or fax 0737-249162. When reserving a car please advise Woods that you are employed by the FCO and qualify for the 15% discount. When collecting the car you may be required to provide proof of identity accordingly.
