While BA is the preferred carrier officers should use this airline unless the timings of flights are operationally inconvenient.

I recognise (having used CX when I was posted to Jakarta) that Cathay Pacific offers an excellent service, but we all have a responsibility to aim for value for money. We have attempted in the past to agree on a route deal with CX, but the line they have taken is that they do not need to offer corporate discounts to sell seats. We are planning another approach (although we have to be wary of undermining our deal with BA). It would kelp in our approach if we could demonstrate a shift of business away from CX.
