Intended Year of Leaving Hong Kong
Two out of five or thirty-eight percent (38%) of those who have foreign country visas indicate that they will leave Hong Kong on or before 1997 while fifty-nine percent (59%) or three out of five intended to stay behind.
The pattern is quite uniform across subgroups though the upper occupational class, (that is professionals, executives, proprietors as well as traders or their household members), has a slightly higher intention of emigrating on or before 1997 (41%) than the general public (37%).
