Economic Outlook of Hong Kong
When asked to predict the economic outlook of Hong Kong in the year ahead, the public tend to be comparatively less optimistic than the previous survey. 22% of the respondents believe that the Hong Kong economy will improve as compared to 30% in July. This is probably due to the "cooling-off" effect of the joint-airport agreement mentioned earlier.
Nonetheless, more respondents believe that the economy will remain as it is presently (47%) which is six percentage points higher than the previous survey (41%). Those who anticipate that the economy will deteriorate increase slightly by two percentage points from 29% to 31% in this survey.
