Thank you for your letter of 8 February enclosing a copy of one from Mark Tress of Barclays Bank. It was good to see this evidence of yet another satisfied customer. Your point about the value of having this slot in a ministerial visit is well understood here.

I was intrigued by the reference in Mr Tress's letter to a "son of secondment scheme". As you know, the plan is to review the position in the course of this year, perhaps in September. However, in view of the disappointingly low take-up of the nationality scheme, I would rate the chances of anything coming of this as nil, unless there is a massive last minute surge of interest.
