the need to relocate this group of parents who are currently holding very senior positions in various professions, business enterprises and in the Government is contrary to the U.K. and Hong Kong Governments' desire to minimize brain drain and is harmful to the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong; and

we also feel that our group has been treated unfairly in light of the recent British Nationality Selection Scheme for 50,000 Hong Kong families which allows all children under 18 of successful applicants to be registered as British Citizen without having to set foot in the U.K.

We, as a group, are therefore appealing for your assistance in:-

Supporting our view that the group has suffered injustice caused by the anomaly of the British Nationality Act 1981 and the preferential treatment given to children whose parents are successful under the Nationality Selection Scheme; and

appealing to the Secretary of State of the Home Department in the U.K. to use his discretion under Section (3)(i) of the Act to register such dependent children as British Citizens; or

(c) exploring with the Home Department other alternatives to correct such

grievances and injustices.

Yours faithfully,

Mull
