Letter to The Earl of Caithness Dated 22 March 1991
The
lawyer with the requisite service with an approved British undertaking. announcement that some undertakings in the legal sphere are to be regarded as British when their connection is perhaps tenuous, has exacerbated the anxiety and sense of grievance amongst the Bar. Such lawyers will still be able to earn a maximum number of 150 points under section 27 of the Scheme under the heading of ^pecial Circumstances. Members of the Bar in private practice will not qualify for the former unless the proposal set out in our letter to Mr Hurd is adopted.
We therefore urge your Government once again to adopt our proposal alternatively to inform us as soon as possible the manner in which the unfairness to our members will be redressed.
