Another issue of concern to the Chamber is the question as to
whether Hong Kong should make financial contribution to the
Gulf War.
The Chamber is strongly in favour of such a contribution being made, not because of Hong Kong's ties to
Britain, important though those are. The Chamber has always
argued that Hong Kong is a fully-fledged member of the international community. As such, the territory should give its
support to the United Nations and to the Allied effort in the
Gulf.
Finally, and on a more cheerful note, I'm delighted to say that
the Chamber now has more than 300 corporations as members, and
continues to grow apace, and Chamber functions have never been
better attended. I would like to thank you all for your
continuing support, and wish you a Happy Year of the Ram.
