PRIME MINISTER'S VISIT TO PEKING: DELEGATION
PRIORITY
1. We expect No 10 to agree that Mr Galsworthy should join the
Prime Minister's party in Peking but do not yet have
confirmation.
2. FCO official participation is more difficult. Ministers do
not want to recall Burns (AUSS) from Leave. The Assistant in
HKD will still be acting Head of Department. The Prime Minister
has therefore agreed that Paul (Now on Leave before taking up
his posting to UKREP JLG) should join the party in Peking on
2 September.
Grateful confirmation that this will cause no local
difficulties.
