A 1. As instructed in Private Secretary's minute of 30 July

we have confirmed that Hong Kong and UKRep JLG have no objections to Mr Paul's joining the Prime Minister's party in Peking. Peking also see no objections. I submit a draft letter to PS/No. 10 confirming Mr Paul's inclusion.

E 2. No. 10 have not yet answered Private Secretary's letter of 2 August, which proposed among other things that Mr Galsworthy (Mr Paul's future Head of Mission) should also be

included.
