Ministerial Visits

The Committee had before them a revised schedule of Ministerial Visits Overseas, tabled at the meeting, and a letter from the ODA containing its proposals.

The Chairman noted that the Committee focused on those visits taking place in the first six months of the period under review. The schedule would show any visits scheduled for after June 1991 under a section titled "Possible Visits for Further Ahead". In discussion of the schedule the following points were made:

a

Following agreement with ODA the revised schedule to be produced after the meeting would include ODA visits with a significant element of trade promotion.

b Mr Wild commented that Departments should be clear on the availability of ECGD cover for markets when considering which overseas visits might be made.

C Mr McLoughlin's visit to Czechoslovakia, shown on the Schedule as early 1991, was now likely to take place in the April/June period, probably May.
