I have a number of points arising from it; -

I do not think we have been told about the visit by the Farl of Arran in May. Grateful for details.

The visit by Lord Caithness to Hong Kong should presumably be in July rather than June.

I do not think we have heard before about the proposed visits by Mr. Gummer and Mr. Sainsbury in the autumn. Grateful for any details that you have at this stage.

The Governor's proposed visit to Canada/US in October is now off, as it turned out that Congress will be in recess during that week and there is also a public holiday in Canada! Apologies for not having told you this before. We will be sending a telegram separately to Washington and Ottawa. Instead the Governor proposes to visit London and will speak at the TDC dinner on 15 October.

Mrs Thatcher has declined the invitation to visit Hong Kong in October, but has expressed interest in coming here at some stage next

The latest dates we have for the Duke of Edinburgh are 29 October to 2 November.
