FOREIGN SECRETARY:

We had a very good meeting and a very pleasant lunch and I

am very grateful to OMELCO. Thanks to the conciseness of their ranged over a very big number of matters, the basic

points that I will be discussing in Peking but also other points

like the Vietnamese Boat People, the working of the Nationality Act,

the political process here in Hong Kong and of course the views

expressed were very different because OMELCO contains a very wide

range of opinion as is normal." But I certainly go to Peking with

a clearer idea of the range of opinions here in Hong Kong and that

will be a real help to me.

QUESTION:

What was the major concern of OMELCO?

FOREIGN SECRETARY:

Opinions varied a good deal but I think there is a pretty

wide view that we do need to move into a period
