NATIONALITY

War Widows/Spouses of UK citizens

Home Secretary's immigration concession. Spouses can obtain an official letter which will accelerate Entry

Clearance applications. HKID have opened Register and begun issuing letters.

BNA 1981:

children

Home Office offered immigration concession (on condition that this is the last group to benefit).

Vietnamese Migrants

- More money from HMG for camps; faster resettlement of

refugees; return of double-backers.

Patrol Craft

-

Agreed that the 3 patrol craft will stay.

[NB EXCO have not been told there was ever a possibility of

HKG paying full costs.]

Law and Order

-

[For ExCo only] Agreement that HKG should make evidence available to Chinese police in respect of serious crimes committed in Hong Kong, subject to certain safeguards.

General Medical Council

Dept of Health and FCO will lobby GMC to exempt Hong Kong.
