SOUTH PACIFIC FORUM

1.

As you know, Lord Caithness would now like to attend the South Pacific Forum in Pohnpei on 1-2 August. The rescheduling of the Pacific Rim Heads of Mission Conference 23-25 July is convenient because it opens the possibility of an official visit to the Philippines between the Conference and the South Pacific Rim. The outline for the visit might then be:

I should be grateful if you could advise on how much time the Minister needs to spend at the Forum. As far as I can make out from an initial look at flight schedules there are no connecting flights between Guam and Pohnpei on Tuesday 30 July. On Wednesday 31 July there is a flight from Manila to Pohnpei (changing at Guam) which arrives 2210 hours. Perhaps you could explore further with the travel centre, bearing in mind the likely shape of the forum meetings and advise on optimum arrival and departure plans.
