Consular, Passport and Immigration and Visa Sections:

The FCO Inspector's IDEST for these Sections vary considerably from the staffing estimates contained in Hong Kong tel nos. 1863 and 1864 of 14 June 1990 particularly for Passport Section. Would the appropriate Departments please provide their latest thoughts on staffing, waiting areas (including number of anticipated daily visitors) and storage requirements?

Amenities:

The items included in Section K are suggestions only. Are these adequate and/or necessary? We have not included a Commissariat or Club as we understand that these types of facilities are not required in Hong Kong.

I should be grateful if addressees could forward their comments on the SOR to Alex Smith, Room 506 Apollo (Ext 8245) by 21 August 1991. These should include clarification of the specific points raised in para 3 above. I recognise that requirements may well change between now and 1997, but we need to start somewhere and soon. Your current best estimate plus a provision for any uncertainties would be useful.
