from liability in tort caused by a member of the

armed forces. Similar provisions were suspended in

the United Kingdom in 1987;

(b) clause 3 repeals section 8 (6) of the Ordinance, thus

preventing its revival under the new section 7A.

This is consequential to the enactment of the new

section 8A;

clause 4 enacts a new section 8A which enables a

person to take civil proceedings in Hong Kong against

the Crown in right of Her Majesty's Government in the

United Kingdom as represented by an officer,

department or agent present in Hong Kong.
